Red is for stop, green is for...

Ok, remind me never to complain about our roads n traffic ever again. This is insane! If this isn`t rush hour in India then I hate to see what is. Amazingly nobody gets hit.

Wank Holiday Monday

Bit of a title eh!
Well, it`s not so wank now. But that`s how I felt earlier on. And all thanks to three little letters.

I`m getting past the point of hating DIY to near violent tendancies.
I wasn`t really in the mood today. But I guess that`s what Bank Holiday`s are for.
Still finishing off the last fiddly job in the bathroom. Nothing major. Just a bit of trim around the bath to tidy it up a bit.

But, God, i`ll be pleased when it`s done. It`s partly my own fault as I do my best to put off doing it. That and just the thought of it gives me a headache.

I also introduced Zara to the joys of Cleethorpes.
Which killed off a couple of hours yesterday.

Beaches were walked along, ice-cream was eaten and crazy golf was played. Perfect day.

Mainly cos I won at crazy golf. Woo Hoo!

Man & Machine

I can`t take any credit for this post, but it cracks me up so much I had to post a snippet. Go here to read the rest:

Attu question: what program are you running at the moment?:

Last year a friend of mine upgraded from GirlFriend 6.0 to Wife 1.0 and found that it's a memory hog leaving very little system resources available for other applications. He is now noticing that Wife 1.0 is also spawning Child Processes which are further consuming valuable resources. No mention of this particular phenomena was included in the product brochure or the documentation, though other users have informed him that this is to be expected due to the nature of the application.

Not only that, Wife 1.0 installs itself such that it is always launched at system initialization, where it can monitor all other system activity. He's finding that some applications such as PokerNight 10.3, BeerBash 2.5, and PubNight 7.0 are no longer able to run in the system at all, crashing the system when selected (even though they always worked fine before). During installation, Wife 1.0 provides no option as to the installation of undesired Plug-Ins such as MotherInLaw 55.8 and BrotherInLaw Beta release. Also, system performance seems to diminish with each passing day.

Some features he'd like to see in the upcoming wife 2.0.

1. a "Don't remind me again" button
2. a Minimize button
3. An install shield feature that allows Wife 2.0 be installed with the option to uninstall at any time without the loss of cache and other system resources
4. An option to run the network driver in promiscuous mode which would allow the system's hardware probe feature to be much more useful.

I myself decided to avoid the headaches associated with Wife 1.0 by sticking with Girlfriend 7.0. Even here, however, I found many problems. Apparently you cannot install Girlfriend 7.0 on top of Girlfriend 6.0. You must uninstall Girlfriend 6.0 first. Other users say this is a long standing bug that I should have known about. Apparently the versions of Girlfriend have conficts over shared use of the I/O port. You think they would have fixed such a stupid bug by now. To make matters worse, The uninstall program for Girlfriend 6.0 doesn't work very well leaving undesirable traces of the application in the system. Another thing -- all versions of Girlfriend continually popup little annoying messages about the advantages of upgrading to Wife 1.0...more

Cake Tuesday

A couple of the mini cakes today with the same theme.

And a full size one of our 2 cats misbehaving. Any questions, leave them in the comments and Zara will answer them :)

Burn her

Anybody who has been reading my ramblings for a while may remember a particular nasty post about a Chinese bitch who took part in a cat crush video. Well she`s been found.

This is part of the story from No nastiness in it so it`s safe to read:

Yesterday, someone posted a letter online accepting partial responsibility for the cat mutilation photos that have gotten people riled up. And the rest of the details of the case have now come to light.

The Beijing News reports that the man in question, Li Yuejun, received 1000 yuan for recruiting the performer in the video. The woman in the video, a Ms. Wang, worked in hospital in Luobei County in Heilongjiang. The county government said that she was divorced, and a little not right in the head.

Li did not shoot the video, however. Two employees of a Hangzhou Internet company were the producers of the film, and sent one to Heilongjiang to shoot it.

And what`s to be done with her?
No surprise really from a country that doesn`t even recognise basic human rights. I`m sure someone will hopefully 'inflict' some justice on her.
And she`s a nurse for fuck sake!

Anyway here is the story of how she was tracked down. Again it`s safe to read, but a little long:

HONK KONG: The photographic images, grabbed from a video clip that was on sale until recently on some websites, show a Chinese-looking woman in a slinky dress standing alongside a river and talking endearingly to a kitten that she holds in her gloved hands.

But soon that ice-candy image gives way to a macabre scene as she places the kitten *snipped nasty description*

There is, of course, no accounting for human perversions. Even so, the gruesome images from a ‘crush video’ that celebrates cruelty to animal as a sadomasochistic sexual stimulant set off a wave of revulsion among Chinese netizens and animal lovers.

It also triggered one of the most enterprising online investigations driven solely by citizens (but which would do Scotland Yard proud), which culminated in the public shaming of the high-heeled cat-killer. Here’s a blow-by-blow account of how the civilian cyber-sleuths tracked down the culprit.

Within days of the videos and photographic images being posted on the web, a Chinese netizen put out a ‘Wanted’ poster with the photograph of the woman and sought out Web-users’ help in identifying her and the location of the killing.

The background images of a tower provided some clues. Professional tourist guides, who were shown the photographs, identified it as a landmark in a park in north-eastern Heilongjiang province.

Further Web-trawling revealed that these images were part of a larger collection that was for sale on www.*******.***. The website was soon closed down, but from the domain registration information, the sleuths gathered that the images had been uploaded in Hangzhou by a person bearing the handle of ‘gainmas’, with the mail ID

A search on — that accursed search engine that has been pilloried for doing business in China — for the telephone number listed on the site led the cyber-sleuths to a company with the name of Silver Fox Technology that was also listed at the same Hangzhou address.

More personal details about gainmas came tumbling out rapidly: gainmas was shown to have a silver-grey Mazda with a Zhejiang registration, and a search on the auction site revealed that gainmas had purchased a pair of 12-cm-heeled shoes in January 2005.

Meanwhile, another line of investigations was undertaken to track down the woman in the images. One red-herring was thrown at these sleuths, when one web-post claimed that the woman in the pictures was, in fact, Japanese, and that this was an advertisement for a well-known brand of Japanese shoes.

Localising the search to Helongjiang province, the cyber-sleuths finally identified her Wang Jeu, a 37-year-old nurse at the Luobei People’s Hospital in Luobei county. Having been publicly identified and shamed, Wang earlier this week offered a public apology to animal lovers for her senseless, sadistic act.

She claimed that she had been persuaded into performing for the camera at a time when she was in emotional turmoil following a divorce.

The episode is striking for two aspects: it shows up the amazing possibilities of the Web, even in a society where information flow is restricted.

But equally important, it shows what heightened civic consciousness and public outrage can do. The netizens who tracked down the high-heeled cat-killer of Luobei county are worthy of a place in the Cybersleuths Hall of Fame.

I`ll try and stay awake until the end of this post.
Hmm, hope you will to!

It`s been such a lazy day today. We`ve done nothing. The most energy exerted was to get the guinea pigs in for a run around as all it`s done all day is piss it down.

So slumped infront of the tv all day we have been watching motorsport on Eurosport. We ordered our MotoGP tickets for the Donnington Park race at the end of July...wooo. So looking forward to that. I have to keep Zara on a tight leash so she doesn`t try n jump the barrier and radish Sete Gibernau!

Big Brother seems have an interesting bunch this year. All freaksm geeks, queers and a couple from Wales. Although the Jock poof is a tad annoying.

Ok, i`ll try and keep my Big Brother ramblings to a minimum.

So now what. I`m sat here staring at the screen trying to think what i`ve been up to, what`s on my mind, what I`ve got to do and nothing is coming up. My eyes are tired, i`m looking at Garfield who is fast asleep. And Zara is...still awake, writing emails.

I have a good excuse for stopping writing now as my laptop batter is nearly dead.

So i`ll go now before it runs ou....

Nothing to complain about

A friend emailed me this, thought i`d blog it instead of just mailing it on:

This is the Pulitzer prize winning photo taken in 1994 during the Sudan famine. The picture depicts a famine stricken child crawling towards an United Nations food camp, located a kilometer away.

No one knows what happened to the child. Including the photographer, Kevin Carter, who left the place as soon as the photograph was taken.

Three months later he committed suicide due to depression.

This was found in his diary ,

Dear God, I promise I will never waste my food no matter how bad it can taste and how full I may be. I pray that He will protect this little boy, guide and deliver him away from his misery. I pray that we will be more sensitive towards the world around us and not be blinded by our own selfish nature and interests.
I hope this picture will always serve as a reminder to us that how fortunate we are and that we must never ever take things for granted.

No, not me. I`m perfectly relaxed. I`m having a nice soak in the bath. Yes I know it`s kinda early; but i`m keeping out the way.
Zara is making a cake. For her sister.
Who will be on her way to visit us shortly.
Due to arrive here at 9pm. And the cake is still....'in production' shall we say.

So i`m staying out the way. So it`s an early bath before sis gets here. Then that`s when my stress time starts. It`ll be like double trouble having both of them in the house at the same time. And just me. At least when we go visit her husband is there for some male support. Pity me.

Still. The week has been going well for me so far. No major headaches at work. Nothing to complain about at all in fact.
Well. Except for one thing maybe.

Wednesdays. What is it about that day that makes tv execs and podcasters think 'hmm, lets not put anything interesting out there for our viewers/listeners'

It`s like a black hole, a void. There is nothing on tv of a night. And I get no podcasts to listen to during my day. It`s a worldwide phenomena. A lot of the podcasts I listen to are from the US, so it`s not just a UK thing. Maybe I just need a Wednesday only thing to fill the void.

But all that will change as of tonight, and for the next few months. Big Brother is back! Yeah, sad as it seems, i`m not ashamed to admit i`m looking forward to seeing what freaks, weirdos and loonies they have lined up this year.

Well, whatever readership I did have for my ramblings has now probably gone running for the hills. But I don`t need to watch it. Honest. I can give it up anytime. Well, maybe watch just one episode.

Cake Tuesday!

Ok, here it is. Had some trouble connecting to Zara`s computer from mine to get the pics; so had to do it from the laptop which worked fine...hmm. Very strange. Anyway. As we`ve had birthday cakes for myself and my dad then I though it was my mums turn.

She is a huge Wallace & Gromit fan so I was quite easy picking a theme for her cake!

Cats rule too!!

Heh, this is so cool. Ok, Cake Tuesday is on it`s way so be patient (that means you too Kitty!)

Sick n tired

I`m knackered. Which probably means I really shouldn`t be typing anything tonight as it`ll be just one long rant.
But fuck it. It`ll make me feel better.

So what am I sick of.

Well the bathroom. I`ll be so damn pleased to get it finished. It`s just pissy little finishing off jobs now. Which seem to be harder than doing some of the biggers jobs, like wallpapering.
I ache more today than I did yesterday. I feel old today. Every bone seemed to ache.
Animal cruelty. This pisses me off on a daily basis. But it`s everywhere in the news and on tv at the minute. As usual the press concentrate on the mental minority instead of focusing on the cause of their anger like animals being skinned alive for their fur, needless animal testing and the like.
Work. I don`t mind the job I do. Except their isn`t much of a job for me to do at the minute. I`m bored. I hate being bored at work. The day goes so slow. I`m just clock watching trying to drag our what work I have to take me through the day.
People. People always piss me off but I just thought I`d throw it in there for good measure.

Funny. I started the day in a real mellow, relaxed mood. I`ll blame the weather again. All it`s done is piss it down today. I think summer has come n gone already!

I`m sure tomorrow will be better.

Work work

No rest for the wicked today.
Well, until now. I ache so I`m laid in the bath soothing my aches n pains.

Have I mentioned I ache?
The day started at 7:30 pm and me n Zara dragged ourselves out of bed to go watch the MotoGP from China. Now there`s dedication for you.

Then for me it was a day of work as I did a little bit of work on the side and made myself £130.
So now here I lay in the bath looking at whatever sick shit have on their site.

It`s my way of telling myself that life could be worse. That the UK isn`t such a bad place to live and that i`m not involved in any sort of bullshit religion. Which is pretty much all of them.

Although you have to laugh when you see some Islamic freaks spouting their venom and hatred for the west whilst wearing Nike heahbands. The stupidity of the human race never ceases to amaze me.

Anyway, enough of the nasty side of life. I really don`t know where i`m going with post. If anywhere. I`ve written then deleted a bunch of sentences by this point. And not all of them because of my crappy spelling.

I`m feeling calm and relaxed. But still a bit achey. I think the day is just catching up with me so I haven`t the energy to get arsey about anything.

I`m sure that`ll change after tomorrow and another wonderful Monday at work.

Always knew it!

Damn it`s good to be me ;)

Make your own newspaper headline here

Rats rule!

Cool article about rats being used to sniff out landmines.

SIBATE, Colombia (Reuters) - Her name is Lola and she's at the top of her class of risk-running rodents being trained to sniff out landmines in Colombia, home to the world's highest number of mine-related deaths and injuries last year.

The smartest rat among the first six that the government is teaching to locate explosive devices planted by leftist rebels, she has a 90 percent success rate in locating explosive material in her laboratory training maze....more

Name calling

I`m a piscetarian!
And I had no idea.

I`m vegtarian. Well, half vegetarian as I still eat fish.
Long story. So won`t go into it now.
But i`ve never really been comfortable with saying i`m vegetarian. And then trying to explain why I still eat fish.

Well according to various sources. I`m a piscetarian. Or to get all official like

pescetarian (; PESH.uh-) n. A person who supplements a vegetarian diet with fish. —adj. Also: pescevegetarian, piscetarian.

So now I can confuse people by telling them that instead now. As long as I can remember the damn word.
When it comes to remembering names i`m as hopeless as someone who`s not very good at remembering names. Which is kind of ironic I guess as isn`t a lot of fish good for the brain?

Cake Tuesday

I really should get a photo of my dad in his dressing gown so you could all see the level of detail Zara has gone to here. My dad always has his toast for breakfast. And is always joined by their two pet rats who do their best to steal as much toast from him as possible!

Only probably interesting if you live in the UK.
And have been following the news recently.
Well, it`s more funny than interesting.
If you find such things amusing.

Anyway. Go type 'fuckwit' into google and see what the top link is.

Like we didn`t know!

Right way round

I think my head is the right way round now.
It must be as I don`t feel dizzy anymore. Doesn`t mean I`m any less waffy. Just that I can at least see straight in my waffyness.
It really is the most horrible feeling in the world. Well, to me it is anyway. I`m sure there are worse feelings but as I haven`t experienced any then I can only say that THIS is the most horrible feeling in the world.

To get an idea. Next time you get a killer headache spin round n round on the spot for a minute whilst wearing some glasses that make your vision go blurry and thats pretty much how it feels. Except it can last for hours.

Fortunately it only lasted a minute or so this time. But it can take hours/days until I feel 100% again.
Which I do now.
Which Zara can attest to as i`ve been my usual annoying self.

Other than that it`s been a typical monday. The weather was fine after it chucked it down all day yesterday. Work was it`s usual chaotic self, although I managed to detach myself from it and get on with my own work. No such luck tomorrow.

Ok, enough Monday grumbles.

Now this has got to hurt!

This is what it looks like when your high-tech mountain bike snaps in half as you are riding down the side of a volcano at 110mph...Link

Round n round

Urgh what a day.

At the minute Zara is regaling me with facts about Keifer Sutherland so if this post goes off on a tangent you`ll know why!

It`s been hot today. Too hot. I don`t like hot. It makes me tired and grouchy.
I suffer from vertigo. But for some strange reason my anti-deps seem to control my dizzy spells.
Well until today that is. It didn`t last long but it felt like a scary moment. We were at my parents and I started to feel really, really sleepy. Zara will probably tell you it`s because she was rambling on about her wonderful work day at the windmill.
And then...zing!
I get really hot, my head starts to pound and the dizzy spell hits me. It only lasted a few seconds thank God. But just for a moment I thought 'oh no, not again'

In the bad old days it could leave me on my back for 3 days. I`m hoping it`s not coming back. It takes over my life and i`m too scared to go anywhere in case it happens again.
We were meant to go to Cleethorpes this afternoon. But after that I just wanted my bed. Fortunately we both felt a bit worn out and the rain had started. So we just went home.

I hate my body controlling me. But i`m just left so helpless.

Cake Tuesday

Well some more of our Bradgate Park visit pics are up on Flickr. Although I`m sure Zara will point out that i`ve missed off some of the better ones.
I`m so lazy at picking pictures.

Speaking of pictures. Zara has a nice shiny folder on her hard drive with nice shiny pictures of some of the cakes she`s done. She did want me to post a cake of the day, but I thought i`d be able to stretch it out to doing one a week,.
And as I didn`t think anyone would be interested in me doing a bralesss tuesday a`la Bored Housewife. Then I thought Cake Tuesday would be a much better idea.

So here it is.

The first cake posting. It`s a birthday cake Zara did for me. And as you all know I like to post in the bath. And previously I used to like to read in the bath. So Zara captured me in a perfect pose....although I wondered why she was taking all these photos of me laid in the bath!

She even managed to get all my piercings in there as well, reading PC Format and with Miaow asleep by my side. Note the strategically placed bubbles.

I`m alive!

Yes i`m still here. In case any of you were wondering if I survived my birthday.
You know who you are ;)
I had a fantastic birthday.

Got lots of great presents. Books, vouchers, alchohol, clothes, alchohol.
Me and Zara went to watch Silent Hill at the cinema. Yes, a nice romantic evening out.

Then back to reality on Saturday as we attempted to not get stressed with each other as we laid the bathroom floor tiles. Which went pretty well. Only a few minor boo boos. Mainly to do with my cutting skills and tape measuring abilities.

And yesterday we went to over to Leicester to meet Zara`s dad and his partner at Bradgate Park

Which meant for a lot of walking. A lot. So today i`m doing as little as possible. Nothin. Nadda. No bathroom. Very little walking. A relaxing day.

The rest of the pics will be up on Flickr soon.
